Royal Wedding Part 2

As promised, here is Part 2 with some styles of dresses we at York Bride would love to see Princess Katherine adorn for her big day.  This is just a small selection from a sample of British designers. There are many, many talented designers  out there and I am sure they would all create a beautiful design for her.  However, we think that Kate would look amazing in a dress that is understated with structure yet still feminine and not too ageing for her.   We are not keen on the thought of crystals or heavy embroidery, but loving the thought of the fabric creating shape and texture and lace would just be lush! A fishtale silhoutte would really suit her figure (but not too clingy) but even a well structured bodice with a soft line skirt would look equally as gorgeous.  We hope you like the pics below, thanks to Alice Temperley, Suzanne Neville, Phillipa Lepley,  Claire Pettibone.  We have our favourite designer which we will spill at the end of the pics ;)

Claire Pettibone - Hyacinth

So we hope you like our choices.  We would like to see a move away from the traditional strapless design- although they can be stunning, considering the venue we think sleeves, whether full or cap will be ideal for a spring wedding and we think will add a touch of elegance. We adore all the pictures shown, but if we had to choose a favourite designer it would be the lovely Phillipa Lepley for her glamourous yet understated and feminine frocks- just gorgeous!  We will have to wait and see which lucky designer gets to grips with the most talked about dress of 2011! Lets hope they tell us soon.

Royal Wedding Part 1

Well, I dont know about you, but York Bride is sooooo excited about the forthcoming nuptials of the most gorgeous Kate and wonderful William on April 29th 2011!!

You could say there has been a considerable number of Royal themed blogs on the go, so I thought before York Bride throws some inspiration around we would take a step back in time to have a look at the all important bridal gowns from regal weddings gone by.  Below are a selection of some of my favourite pictures of beautiful royal brides. Can you spot any similarities or trends?

We hope you have enjoyed having a look at these , in Part 2 we will bring you some of York Brides ideas for Kate's dress! Whilst this is being put together the name of the designer is still (frustratingly) under wraps. There are so many fab british designers out there and we don't envy the bride on her choice of designer or dress style, but lets face it- she would make a bin bag look stylish and will of course look drop dead gorgeous in her chosen gown which will no doubt be copied across the world!.  Look out for Part 2 coming soon.  Enjoy all the Royal Wedding gossip in the meantime. If you have any thoughts, comments or ideas then we would love to hear from you.

Beautiful Ballerina Part 2

Following my Ballerina Themed Inspiration Board earlier, I HAD to look at infamous Etsy to see what treasures it currently holds for a ballet theme - and oh my gosh what a selection! I have to share these ideas with you... so thanks to all those special and creative peeps on Etsy for sharing your skills and beautiful products with us. A must for a new mummy and bride to be! Adorabellcouture These would make lovely place tags tied to a rose or with vintage ribbon tied to a napkin or even as part of a tableplan - thanks to landofenchantment A different and fun alternative to a bridesmaid bouquet - how about a ribbon wand! These would look pretty on the photos and the colours can be made to match your theme thanks to zuzgirl. If your not a tiara girl then why not try this stylish silk flower -Thanks to Threadrare. There are soooo many wonderful 'treasures' on Etsy I cant recommend looking enough, if you want something unique and special its the place to be.

Beautiful Ballerina

Seeing as I spent some of my morning surrounded by gorgeous pink tulle, ballet shoes and elegant hair styles it spurred me on to do a Ballet Inspired Mood Board. Its no secret that I am a complete 'girl' and love all thinks pink, frilly and elegant. Unfortunately, ballet was not my forte when at dance class. I was more of a disco and jazz fan- but that has never stopped me enjoying the whole ballet style! I just love the ballet pallet for a wedding day, it can be so romantic and sophisticated or pushed to the limit and themed to the max with ballet place cards and invitations all in pink of course! Personally, I think the muted pinks, chocolates and creams work a treat in setting the soft tones and along with the textures of chiffon and tulle it can be pulled together a treat. I have pulled some images together to give you an idea. Hope you like it!

Icy Blue Bride

INSPIRATION BOARD - ICE BLUE BRIDE
Welcome to January 2010! Christmas seems to be a distant memory now, but the winter weather doesn't seem to want to go away.
Well, its still snowing here in York! Although it looks pretty (whilst inside sipping on a hot chocolate) and like icing sugar sprinkled on the ground , it obviously has caused major headaches for a lot of people. I am now at the point that I would be very pleased to see the back of the white stuff. It will certainly give a few brides a wedding to remember, and lets hope for all the right reasons; happy memories and gorgeous winter wonderland pictures!
With this in mind, and with all the lovely snow pictures being posted all over the place it made me think of all the colours associated with winter weddings. These can range from your deep opulent colours, such as deep burgundies, plums, golds etc right through to your silvers and whites. A favourite colour choice in my eyes for a winter wedding; especially January time is blue, a lovely ice blue. This colour looks amazing against a white backdrop and you can throw in accents of silver and grey too. It can look chic and contemporary and can offer a fresh alternative to bridesmaids attire and ties/waistcoats for the boys. It doesnt mean that everything you choose should be blue, try to keep consistency through the day with different elements, such as stationery, flowers, maybe ribbon or cake decoration and bring in little touches, whichever works for you.
Well, we will see how long this snow lasts and I wish you all a safe and memorable January 2010!
Love Claire x
